The purpose of this research study was to determine the effects of cyber bullying training on middle school students and parents. The study used a pretest-posttest control group design. The participants were 26 parents of middle school students and 56 middle school students. The study was comprised of a comprehension test in which adult and student participants were graded according to the percentage of questions answered accurately. The adult participants received cyber bullying training that provided them with the information necessary to address cyber bullying at home. The students in the experimental group received information about cyber bullying prevention and consequences from their parents who received cyber bullying training. In order to compare the groups, the independent samples t-test and plot of means were utilized. The research findings indicated that there was a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores for both the student participants in the experimental group and all of the adult participants as well, though there was not a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores for the control group. The results of this study illuminate the need for administrative policies that provide cyber bullying prevention training for middle school students and parents.
